This advert is for two separate posts - Bid Director (or possibly a Senior Bid Manager) and Bid Manager. Bidding Limited, a leading UK Bid Consultancy, is recruiting for a Bid Director (or possibly a Senior Bid Manager). This role is UK based but can be remote, hybrid, or office based. Our offices are in Wakefield and Edinburgh. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) with a salary range of between £40k and £60k (dependant on experience and whether the role is filled at Senior Bid Manager or Bid Director level).

Role Summary

Bid Directors perform a vital role at Bidding Limited, ensuring that the bids we produce are of the highest quality, and that customer interaction is well managed to build ongoing positive relationships. The Bid Director is responsible for providing leadership, quality assurance, compliance assurance, and the production, where appropriate, of bid projects, as appointed by the capacity management team within the Bidding Limited Ops Group. This includes managing and leading multiple projects with varying Senior / Bid Manager combinations as deemed appropriate. At times, Bid Directors are also responsible for delivering and writing larger, more complex bids, or where there is a key client relationship to preserve, for example via the Bid Subscription Service. In addition, Bid Directors form part of the Ops Senior Management Team and have responsibility for communicating the company’s values and mission to others within the bid team. This includes leading by example in terms of both commitment to excellence and personal qualities. You may also be asked to lead corporate projects that lead to change and improvement in our ways of working and culture. As part of the Bidding Limited operations team, you will have significant freedom to determine how to spend your time, within the framework of the projects set out by the Principal Bid Director, whilst providing core leadership and driving culture across the team. You will also line manage several Bid Managers. These activities may involve travel across the UK where safe and appropriate, which will be reimbursed in line with Bidding Limited’s expenses policy, and an expectation to occasionally come into the office where required.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years' experience in bidding roles (Required)
  • At least one year of experience in a senior bid role (Senior Bid Manager, Bid Director, or similar) (Required)
  • A good working knowledge of the UK Public Sector procurement landscape, including the use of procurement portals and public sector Frameworks (Required)
  • Ability to write very high-quality bid responses (Required)
  • A good record of successful bidding (Required)
  • Able to lead and mentor others (Bid Managers) during the bid process (Required)
  • Able to communicate well with clients, managing their expectations and inspiring confidence (Required)
  • A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Required)
  • Familiarity with APMP processes and best practice (Desirable)
  • APMP certified at Practitioner level (Desirable)

Role Summary

Bid Managers are a vital component of our work at Bidding Limited, as they develop compelling content that forms the basis of a winning bid submission. You will be expected to deliver work on time, and to a high standard working to industry best practices (APMP). In addition, Bid Managers have additional responsibilities related to project and client management for the bids they work on. The Bid Manager is responsible for multiple bid projects as set out by the Chief Operating Officer, as well as playing a part in the culture of the company. This includes managing and internally leading projects with varying resource as deemed appropriate, with supporting senior oversight. Through our flexible working arrangement, and within the timelines specified by the project lead, you will have the freedom to manage your own time on a day-to-day basis. These activities may involve travel across the UK where safe and appropriate, which will be reimbursed in line with Bidding Limited’s expenses policy, and an expectation to come into the office when required.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years' experience in bidding roles (Required)
  • A good working knowledge of the UK Public Sector procurement landscape, including the use of procurement portals and public sector Frameworks (Required)
