ABOUT THE JOB
Gunzilla Games is looking to recruit a Senior Game Designer (Weapons) to join us in working on weapons design and balancing for our game OTG (Off The Grid), an all-new AAA Extraction Battle Royale shooter, currently available as Early Access on PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take ownership of the design of weapon features and combat systems, driving end-to-end implementation across the team.
- Balance weapons and combat mechanics to ensure exciting and fair gameplay, considering weapon attributes, statistics, and overall combat flow.
- Investigating and designing improvements to existing combat systems, keeping the core vision in mind.
- Maintain clear design and technical documentation using Confluence, JIRA, and Microsoft Office tools alongside other disciplines.
- Collaborate with other developers, designers, and artists to ensure consistency and cohesion in weapon design and overall combat systems.
- Communicate and present weapon and combat designs clearly to your team and management across all disciplines.
- Work closely with the gameplay and combat teams to ensure weapons and combat systems align with the overall vision and game balance.
REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of experience in AAA game development in a senior role with Weapons and Combat as your primary focus.
- Proven experience and expertise in weapon design, balancing, and creating combat systems for one or more multiplayer shooter titles.
- Experience working with combat mechanics, ensuring consistency in weapon behavior, player experience, and game balance.
- Excellent communication skills, adept at conveying ideas and collaborating effectively.
- Ability to collaborate with designers, programmers, and artists to ensure across-the-board consistency.
- Stay up to date on best practices to keep up with industry standards and improve your knowledge and skillset.
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive design documentation and specifications.
BONUS SKILLS
- Proficiency in using Unreal Engine 5 or 4 and Blueprints for rapid implementation of weapon systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and project management tools.
- Knowledge of current gaming trends, player behaviours, and expectations related to weapon gameplay.
