Job Title: Clinical Coder Location: Role can be worked fully remotely, hybrid or can be based at Royal Bolton Hospital, Minerva Rd, Farnworth, Bolton, BL4 0JR if candidate prefers Hours: Monday – Friday 37.5 hours per week Trust Location: Bolton NHS Foundation Trust Role type: Temporary for 3 months with possibility of extension What you’ll be responsible for: · Analyse and extract diagnostic and procedural information from electronic patient records, patient case notes and other computer systems and assign appropriate codes. Coded data is then used for comparative/planning purposes at both local and National level, Clinical Governance and Finance. · The Clinical Coding Department uses the ICD and OPCS classifications to record all diagnoses, procedures and interventions for all in-patient, day case and regular day/night admissions and the successful candidate will provide consistently recorded data to well defined standards. · Producing accurate information to support Healthcare Resource Groups in facilitating the Payment by Results process within the NHS. · You will be required to demonstrate an extensive understanding of ICD-10 and OPCS4 classifications as well as a thorough understanding of national clinical coding standards and conventions. · Use of NHS systems such as CRIS, ICE, EPR, Sunrise, Allscripts and LE2.2 This role may require you to show evidence of vocational level 3 qualification or at least 2 years relevant experience. You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust: 1. An in depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in working within the NHS 2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times 3.
