BMR require an experienced Vineyard Manager to join a client of ours based within the South Downs. The Estate is a prestigious vineyard located in the South Downs National Park, offering breath-taking views of the English countryside. Known for producing world-class sparkling wines, the estate is home to a blend of rich heritage, natural beauty, and unique geology that create the perfect conditions for viticulture.

Are you passionate about wine production and vineyard management? Do you have experience in overseeing the growth of vines and the production of high-quality grapes? We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Vineyard Manager to join a team within a beautiful vineyard in Surrey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee day-to-day vineyard operations including planting, pruning, pest control, and harvesting.
  • Manage irrigation systems and ensure water efficiency throughout the vineyard.
  • Monitor grape quality and ensure adherence to industry best practices for sustainable vineyard management.
  • Work with the winemaking team to plan and coordinate harvest schedules.
  • Manage and train vineyard staff, ensuring safety, development, and motivation.
  • Maintain and manage vineyard equipment and machinery.
  • Implement best practices for soil health, climate adaptation, and sustainability.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in vineyard management or a similar agricultural role.
  • Strong knowledge of viticulture, crop management, and sustainable practices.
  • Experience managing teams, with excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
  • A good understanding of viticultural tools, machinery, and technologies.
  • Knowledge of the UK wine industry is advantageous but not essential.
  • A degree or certification in viticulture or a related field would be a plus.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • A degree or equivalent in Viticulture.
  • 5 – 7 years proven history of working in a similar position, Vineyard Management or Vineyard Assistant.
  • A keen desire to join a progressive team overseeing 50 acres of production, within a 300 acres site with keen aspirations for growth there on.

In return:

We are offering a competitive package (£35,000 - £50,000 DoE), plus package there on to include annual bonuses etc.
