The post is an appointment for a 6 month Senior LAS in Emergency Medicine at Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust., The resuscitation, examination, investigation, diagnosis and treatment of patients presenting to the Emergency DepartmentTo work as part of a multidisciplinary TeamThere will be senior supervision available for training grade doctors in theDepartment i.e Consultant presence 16 hours per day. Night shift support isprovided by the non resident ED consultant, and on site medical, surgical, ICU and anaesthetic paediatric ST4+ doctors.Liaison with senior colleagues to ensure the provision of effective ED clinical services.Reasonable and effective use of hospital and district resources in liaison with ED budget holder.Liaison through the directorate with other staff of the hospital and the health authority.Participation in the Major Incident ProcedureAssistance and liaison with the ambulance serviceTeaching and trainingContribution to Clinical Governance activities in the Department.Participation in improvement initiatives in the Department eg implementation of National Guidance.Participate in
the teaching and training of undergraduates and postgraduates.Develop research interests in their area of interest and expertiseManagerial responsibilitiesSupervise junior staff.Participate in departmental meetings related to strategic planning.Service review and developmentParticipate in CPD activity for which financial support is availableInitiate and undertake appropriate audits as required within the department.Clinical governance
