We are seeking a skilled and experienced Transmission Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in auditing, identifying, and decommissioning transmission circuits and voice switch sites. This role requires in-depth knowledge of Access Transmission and Voice Fixed Line networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decommissioning of transmission networks, including fibre, microwave, and leased line solutions.
- Conduct audits of transmission rings to assess decommissioning requirements.
- De-jumper voice circuits on decommissioned voice switch sites.
- Identify live transmission circuits to support migration or consolidation efforts.
- Assist with migration or consolidation of circuits as required.
- Decommission transmission rings efficiently and safely.
- Power down decommissioned transmission racks following standard procedures.
- Assist with power isolation of transmission racks in coordination with relevant teams.
- Engage with projects to arrange for the recovery of decommissioned transmission racks.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in Transmission Engineering, preferably in a telecoms environment.
- Hands-on experience with Access Transmission technologies, including SDH, PDH, DWDM, and IP/MPLS (GPT (EMOS), Marconi, Nokia, Nortel, and ECI).
- Strong knowledge of Voice Fixed Line networks and related transmission systems.
- Proficiency in network management tools and monitoring systems.
- Ability to interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and documentation.
- Familiarity with Access & Core Telephony Networks.
