This is an exciting opportunity work as a Technical Instructor within the Vale of Glamorgan Flying Start Speech and Language Team.The successful applicant will be well supported, working under the supervision of the team’s Speech and Language Therapists. You will be delivering home based interventions for Flying Start families across the Vale of Glamorgan. The Flying Start SLT team focuses on early identification and prevention of speech, language and communication difficulties. You will be working with identified families empowering them to encourage their child’s speech and language development. You will be working with children with a wide variety of communication needs, across the Flying Start age range (0-3;11). This role will continue to develop as Flying Start expands including working alongside our Flying Start childcare settings and supporting the delivery of training., Implementation of specific programmes for children with a range of speech, language and communication difficulties.

Run groups, developing group activities to meet defined intervention needs and provide feedback to the supervising Speech and Language Therapist.

Maintain confidential written and contemporaneous speech and language therapy records of work undertaken

Report to the therapist regarding child’s performance in therapy for purpose of ongoing assessment and report writing and collect information to contribute to assessment according to pre-defined formula agreed with the SLT

Organisation of own timetable in agreement with line manager.

Initiate calls and set up own appointments with clients and other therapists as requested.

Prepare resources for implementation of specific programmes following aims given by the supervising SLT and identify resource materials for therapy, school/nursery and home use.

Demonstrate agreed therapy techniques to others working with the child

May be required to share experience and expertise in a given area of work with other colleagues, professional groups, carers and service users

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
