How you will create an impact
This role will report to the Head of Marine, UK. Positioning the business for sustained growth through underwriting and executing Multinational programmes across Cargo, Transportation & Logistics, Ports & Terminals, Marine Liability and Fine Art & Specie.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Executing new and renewal multinational business
- Building and maintaining a pipeline of quality business through relationships with key producers and clients and regular liaison with AIG UK Distribution/Broker relationship teams
- Providing multinational technical direction to the underwriting team
- Creating and maintaining positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders
- Contributing to the development and execution of underwriting strategy and annual budget
- Obtaining all necessary technical underwriting information through liaison with the broker and/or client
- Resolving service issues through liaison with appropriate internal departments
- Liaising on technical service issues with appropriate departments to expedite resolution
- Working with brokers, internal and external clients across the UK and internationally to ensure quality and consistency of underwriting and service delivery
- Liaising with claims and client/broker to establish Claims Reporting requirements for Major accounts
- Collaborating with Distribution and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross selling opportunities from brokers
What you’ll need to succeed
- Previous experience in marine underwriting or broking or implementing Multinational programmes
- Understanding of key pricing principles
- Ability to build strong relationships with brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders
- Strong communication/interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
- Good analytical skills
- Team player
- Ability to prioritise and focus on targets & results
- Works well under pressure, especially during end of quarter renewal periods of peak activity
- Good time management skills – ability to handle multiple priorities, organise work and meet deadlines
- Ability to work on own initiative / Organised
- CII Qualification desirable or progression towards ACII
