Spirehouse Recruitment are delighted to be working with a valued Social Housing client to recruit a diligent and organised Compliance Officer for a six-month temporary position. Our client is a respected organisation dedicated to providing quality housing and property management services. This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your compliance expertise within a supportive and collaborative environment.

As a Compliance Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all properties meet the necessary regulatory standards and that all records are accurately maintained. The successful Compliance Officer will be responsible for managing and monitoring scheduled inspections, reviewing compliance documentation, and liaising with contractors and tenants.

Key responsibilities of the Compliance Officer:

  • Ensure accurate record keeping on internal databases, with all compliance documents uploaded in a timely manner.
  • Manage and monitor all scheduled inspections for compliance, ensuring these are completed within specified timeframes.
  • Review compliance documentation, identify remedial works and arrange for completion of works within the specified timeframes.
  • Undertake administration work for tenders, sending out specifications, identifying suitable contractors, preparing costing comparisons and liaising with contractors and tenants.
  • Collaborate with the Repairs and Maintenance Coordinator to identify and assist in building a programme of works for the renewal of boilers and fire detection systems.
  • Collaborate with the property team and contractors to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective delivery of works that meets compliance standards and the needs of residents.
  • Ensure adherence with current legislation, health & safety standards and best practice.
  • Provide technical assistance to colleagues relating to landlord compliance.
  • Collate compliance data for monthly KPIs and Board reports as requested.

The ideal Compliance Officer will be:

  • Experienced working in housing sector compliance roles.
  • Have knowledge of arranging and reviewing landlord checks for gas, electrical, asbestos, fire safety and legionella.
  • Be able to advise on landlord compliance legislation, regulations and best practice, including gas, electrical, asbestos, fire safety and legionella.
