About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Rail Fleet Engineering Manager to oversee asset management and maintenance operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering strategic fleet maintenance initiatives, managing engineering teams, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage asset management strategies in line with ISO 55001.
- Collaborate with Fleet Maintenance to develop and execute maintenance plans.
- Review and approve annual maintenance plan updates.
- Oversee the creation and revision of fleet maintenance documentation, including work instructions and toolbox talks.
- Manage fleet overhauls and emerging maintenance projects.
- Utilize data analysis and experience to implement reliability improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards and regulations.
- Work with suppliers and contractors to maintain part and service quality and delivery timelines.
- Address component obsolescence with effective solutions.
- Implement and manage the Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
- Oversee engineering change control processes.
- Produce reports and supporting documents related to defects and variations.
- Engage with regulatory bodies as required.
- Apply Lean maintenance techniques to improve efficiency.
- Lead and manage the Engineering team, including workload prioritization and performance management.
- Oversee team administration, including leave, sickness, and overtime.

Experience & Qualifications:
- Level 8 qualification (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, including 2+ years in a management capacity.
- Prior experience in the railway industry is advantageous.
- Experience in the design or maintenance of safety systems.
- Knowledge of maintenance industry best practices.
- Familiarity with safety risk analysis and regulatory compliance.
Work Location & Environment
This role requires working across multiple depot locations. Employees may be required to travel to subsidiary companies or partner organizations as necessary. Adequate notice will be provided for any such changes.
