Principal System Design and Safety Engineer
Type : Permanent
Location : London/Hybrid
Salary : Up to 65k FTE
Ventive is a dynamic, VC-backed company that specialises in intelligent & renewable Building Services, such as its intelligent Heat Pump systems that provide heating, hot water, cooling and fresh air. The company’s vision is to become the energy platform of modern buildings: creating comfortable and healthy internal environments without costing the Earth. The company has a successful track record in bringing innovative energy/ventilation technologies to market, and has assembled a supply chain for the design and launch of it’s new Heat pump.
Ventive is now seeking a Principle System Design and Safety Engineer to work with the design team to further develop its offering.
Skills and Responsibilities
- Degree qualified in Electrical / Mechanical / Electronic Engineering or related field together with relevant engineering accreditations
- Proven experience in safety engineering, regulatory compliance, or related roles with a focus on electro-mechanical and electronic systems
- Demonstrable knowledge of, and experience in, the application of UK and International system engineering processes
- Ability to drive activities related to safety case reports, hazard analysis, functional failure analysis, FTA, DFMEA, FMECA, reliability prediction, etc.
- Responsible for issuing and maintaining system Declaration of Conformity (DoC) as well as compliance reports
- Specifying Safety and Reliability requirements and leading design, analysis, and testing activities
- Co-ordinating on-site commissioning and troubleshooting activities to ensure systems are working safely and effectively
- Actively engaging in providing input to the project team to optimize both system and product design concerning safety and reliability
- Ability to drive and own system design definition, configuration control and design change management
- Responsible for reviewing and approving technical drawings, compiling and maintaining product technical file
- Capability to comprehend and analyse systems down to unit and detailed design levels
- Experience in software projects (ideally within industrial IoT environment)
- Proficiency in understanding the mathematical aspects of Safety and Reliability engineering, including statistics, probability theory, and mathematical modelling
- Ensuring thorough consideration and implementation of lessons learned from previous in-service experiences
- Contribute to improve Ventive quality system
- Good interpersonal and influencing skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Proficiency in computer usage, MS pack and data processing
- Able to employ a logical approach to technical problem-solving and decision-making processes
- Cross-cultural awareness to navigate diverse team environments effectively
- Sound HVAC knowledge preferred
- Providing input into Ventive’s other manufacturing business
