Team Educate are seeking a full time SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in an alternative provision in Bristol. Are you a SEMH Teaching Assistant who wants to make a real difference in a child’s life every day? Are you passionate about helping children overcome emotional and mental health barriers? This role would be working within an alternative provision supporting secondary students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health. The role of a SEMH Teaching Assistant is to work alongside an experienced network of teachers, keeping the students engaged and focused during the school day. There will be an element of both 1:1 working and also group work, allowing you to build core relations and rapport with these young learners. No prior experience is necessary – we value the right attitude and a passion for helping others. Experience or qualifications in SEND are advantageous, but not essential.

We are looking for someone who is patient, empathetic, and motivated to make a tangible impact on a child’s educational journey. The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will benefit from:

  • Being able to make a difference in supporting these young learners
  • A competitive day rate of £86 - £110 per day (experience depending)
  • A fixed term contract at a school, with full time hours and benefits
  • The opportunity to work with an experienced staffing team and to gain valuable knowledge within the SEND sector
  • Free CPD training for the following courses: Safeguarding, Prevent & Autism Awareness
  • Access to additional Free training such as: Assessment, Behaviour Management, The role of a Cover Supervisor, A guide to Tutoring, SEN / ALN training and Classroom Support
  • Team Educate also offers the opportunity to complete Level 2 Team Teach
  • Team Educate also offers Makaton Training

The successful SEMH Teaching Assistant will require:

  • A passion for delivering excellent care
  • A valid DBS certificate, or be willing to put a new application through
  • A right to work in the UK
  • Contactable references covering the last 2 years
