Position Overview
My Client is seeking a skilled and experienced M&E Shift Engineer to join our dynamic team at our critical site based in Isleworth - Greater London. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of all mechanical and electrical systems within the facility. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the site's critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, generators, UPS systems, and fire suppression systems.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns or malfunctions, troubleshoot issues, and implement timely repairs to minimize downtime.
- Monitor and maintain critical power distribution systems, ensuring redundancy and reliability to support uninterrupted broadcasting operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to schedule and coordinate maintenance activities, upgrades, and installations.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment inventory, and work performed using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/ BMS).
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and best practices, ensuring a safe working environment for all staff and contractors.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency situations outside of regular working hours as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Proven experience working in a similar role within a critical infrastructure environment, such as broadcasting, data centres, or telecommunications.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, generators, and fire suppression systems.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards, such as BS 7671 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as part of a 24/7 operational schedule.
