Position Overview: We are currently seeking a highly organized Planning Engineer to join our team in Salford. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the fabrication sector, and have experience within purchasing or supply chain. This role offers an exciting opportunity to oversee project schedules, optimize resource allocation, and contribute to the successful delivery of our projects.
Responsibilities:
- Establishing good internal working relationships with all managers, engineers, supervisors and QA/QC personnel in order to ensure that all materials, services and consumables are procured in accordance with company and client requirements.
- Maintaining good relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure that materials are purchased at the most cost benefit and that good service is maintained at all times.
- General control and management of the procurement system within Langfields.
- Responsible for ensuring that all materials and consumables purchased on behalf of Langfields and their customers are clearly defined and specified, accompanied by the correct certification and meet the requirements of the relevant codes and specifications.
- Arranging for best price and delivery to support contract requirements.
- Definition in conjunction with technical staff of certification requirements.
- Expediting with suppliers and vendors of all material, services and consumables.
- Advise and keep up to date the Sales/Estimating Department and other relevant parties of contract costs against budget.
- Continue to review products / prices and suppliers in order to improve / maintain quality and further reduce costs.
- Collating and issuing Project Specific Job Packs for the workshop floor which include but are not limited to: Job Specification Sheet, ITP, Fabrication Drawings, Weld Procedure Specification, Weld Log, Drawing Register.
- Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of Langfields and is within the remit of this post.

- This role would suit someone looking to make the step up from a shop floor role in the fabrication industry into an office based role. Alternatively applications from experienced Planning Engineers within the fabrication industry are also welcome.
