About the Embassy

The Embassy represents Iceland in the United Kingdom and is also accredited to Ireland and Malta. The Embassy is also a Permanent Mission of Iceland to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in London. The role of the Embassy is to protect the interests of Icelanders and to promote bilateral, political, economic, and cultural links between Iceland and the above countries.

Job description:

  • Driving the Ambassador and other Embassy staff and government officials to various engagements and functions
  • Ensuring that the Embassy vehicle is kept clean and serviced
  • Providing support at events and official functions at the Embassy or Ambassadors Residence
  • Assisting with various maintenance and clerical tasks at the Embassy
  • Carrying out or arranging minor day-to-day servicing and caretaking at the Ambassadors Residence
  • Assisting in the Embassy reception on an ad hoc basis, including answering phone and receiving visitors
  • You may be required to undertake other duties from time to time
  • You may be required to work outside of normal working hours for which you will receive compensation

Person specification:

  • Good health, including vision
  • Neat appearance and dress
  • Fluent English
  • Familiarity with road-system in London and environs
  • Valid driving licence without penalty points
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
  • Experience in driving official, company owned or privately chauffeured vehicles
  • Preferably trained in defensive driving, situational awareness and threat recognition
  • Basic knowledge of car mechanics and responsibility for arranging cleaning and maintenance
  • Basic digital competence, including use of computer and mobile phone
  • Basic maintenance and caretaking skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to undertake diverse tasks as required
  • A minimum of two references from current and/or former employers
