The National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) is looking for a dedicated and skilled Education Appeals Specialist to join our high-performing 1-1 Delivery Chapter.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-quality advice and guidance to deaf children, young people, and their families, focusing on achieving positive outcomes. You will be responsible for preparing and representing families in special educational needs (SEN) appeals, supporting families through complex casework, and working closely with professionals to ensure the best outcomes.
This role can be either part-time or full-time, with a minimum of 21 hours per week.
What you'll do:
- Deliver high-quality, specialist casework and advice to families, focusing on education appeals and legal advice for deaf children and young people.
- Prepare and represent cases at Tribunals, mediation meetings, and other dispute resolution forums.
- Work collaboratively with professionals and families to ensure a person-centred approach in all casework.
- Provide expert advice on legal and policy matters related to SEND, ensuring families are informed and supported throughout the process.
- Gather evidence, prepare legal documentation, and represent families in hearings and meetings.
- Work as part of a remote, agile team to deliver advice, training, and support to families, professionals, and colleagues.
