The Opportunity: Nigel Wright is delighted to be supporting a leading manufacturer of shock and vibration protection solutions in their search for a newly created International Technical Sales Manager position. The Company manufactures tailored product and service solutions used in various applications and serves a diverse customer base across sectors including aerospace, defence, nuclear, industrial, automotive and marine. The role will be predominantly home based, with periodic travel to the Company headquarters in mainland Europe. With face to face customer contact being minimal, there is flexibility for the individual to be based from the UK, France, Italy, or Spain.
Role Profile: You will report to the Global Sales Director and be responsible for leading and growing the business and customer base in Southern and Western Europe and the Middle East. Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Define and implement the commercial and technical strategy for the geographical and sector markets, in close conjunction with the leadership team and the technical functions.
- Develop new business opportunities, engaging in technical sales and project cycles with engineers within customer organisations.
- Manage and develop the direct customer base; draw up specifications in conjunction with the customer, define suspensions, prepare technical and commercial proposals, carry out calculations and more complex simulations in the field of shocks and vibrations.
- Attend exhibitions and trade shows.
- Timely follow up of customer enquiries, providing consultative approach and converting leads into orders.
- Understand the customers’ needs and requirements and provide them with suitable solutions.
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations.
- Negotiate contracts and close sales deals.
- Provide after-sales support and technical assistance to customers.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to provide feedback and suggestions for product improvement.
Person Specification: A degree or equivalent experience in engineering or a related field. A proven track record of technical sales or business development in international markets. A solid knowledge of shock and vibration protection solutions and their applications is highly desirable, as a minimum candidates must have a strong mechanical engineering background. The Company is comfortable providing technical training around shock and vibration, if the general mechanical engineering skillset and culture fit are strong. A strong customer-oriented attitude and excellent communication skills. A self-motivated and results-driven personality able to operate in a remote working setup. Successful experience of reporting to an overseas HQ would be advantageous. A willingness to travel to the company headquarters in mainland Europe every 4-6 weeks.
