The ideal candidate will have a great knowledge and passion for food, great people skills and be up for a challenge. As Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for growing and maintaining some already well-established relationships in and around the North East of the UK in addition to new business generation. Reporting to the Head of Sales, you will work as part of a team managing your own diary and be responsible for ensuring customers' requirements are met.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Operate as the key contact for accounts within your assigned area/region.
- Continuously looking to maximise sales.
- Ensure allocated accounts run within the expected levels of margin.
- Be reactive to account issues ensuring you seek satisfactory resolution for customers.
- Targeted and strategic new business prospecting.
- Support customers with planning and development.
- New Product presentation and tasting.
- Host regular and structured depot and supplier visits with customers.
About you:
- Proven sales experience within a similar business, ideally within the fresh food sector.
- Experience in hospitality and/or a background as a chef would be an advantage.
- Previous experience in customer care or client-facing roles.
- A solid understanding of supply chain processes.
- Strong proficiency in IT and digital tools.
