We are AMS, a global total workforce solutions firm that enables organisations to thrive in an age of constant change by building, re-shaping, and optimising workforces. Our Contingent Workforce Solution (CWS) is one of our service offerings; we act as an extension of our clients' recruitment team and provide professional interim and temporary resources.
At present, we are working with their Derby site and looking for an MRO Design Engineer to cover an initial 12-month contract. You will be working 3 days per week on the Derby site with the rest of the time spent remote working.
As an MRO Design Engineer, you will be working in an after-market team responsible for design repairs of legacy engine products using NX and Teamcentre. The MRO Design Engineer will create innovative repair design schemes delivering solutions that satisfy customer requirements by balancing product attributes, working with multi-disciplinary teams, and using design tools such as PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), CAD, and DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis).
The Design Engineer's solutions need to be cost-effective, align to project milestones, and take into account the full product lifecycle. The Design Engineer will collaborate across Engineering Disciplines, including MRO, Verification, Manufacturing, and Services.
As an MRO Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Ensuring design solutions are tolerant of the environment in which they operate.
- Using systems engineering, robust design, optimisation, integration, and innovation tools and processes to achieve the solutions.
- Defining the mechanical and functional system, sub-systems, and components to meet customers' requirements, responding to arising issues identified during validation, and supporting the in-service operation of the existing system and sub-systems.
- Technical ownership of the solutions throughout the technical approval process.
What we require from the candidate:
- You will have design engineering experience in a repair engineering environment, ideally within aerospace/aviation.
- Have excellent experience with concessions and non-conformances, design modifications, and investigation failures.
- Experience with NX and Teamcentre is preferred.
