Summary: The Junior Battery Scientist will support the Cell Testing Lead and other Battery Scientists in their day to day duties by carrying out tasks in a safe, conscientious and efficient manner. Primarily this will involve activities relating to measuring the performance of new Anaphite materials and processes. This typically includes the preparation of electrode coatings and assembly of prototype cells accompanied by associated data analysis and interpretation. We seek a motivated individual with a strong willingness to learn. Training will be provided to enhance their understanding of Anaphite's work, enabling them to contribute insights and suggest next steps for projects.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Consistently and methodically use SOPs and test procedures as provided;
- Prepare electrode coatings;
- Assemble prototype cells (coin cells and small pouch cells);
- Diligently record and analyse data from standard test protocols;
- Ensure that health, safety & quality standards are upheld across all tasks;
- Help with the maintenance and upkeep of lab equipment relating to these activities;
- Improve understanding of materials through analysis and interpretation of data;
- Report data and observations back to relevant parties along with context and feedback;
- Suggest ideas for new experiments and contribute towards next steps to be taken in project work;
- Support the battery team in improving processes and protocols, specification of new equipment and logging any IP that may arise from tasks and activities;
- Carry out other duties as required for the smooth, safe and efficient running of the cell testing processes and facilities.
Required Proficiencies/Experience:
Essential:
- Minimum of 1 year experience working in a scientific lab or manufacturing type environment;
- Proficiency with Microsoft office or similar;
- Awareness of basic workings of a Lithium ion battery;
- Understanding and following processes/procedures;
- Adapting to change and able to manage conflicting priorities;
- Able to both work independently & in a team;
- Excellent verbal, visual and written communication skills.
Desirable:
- Engineering, Physics, Chemistry degree.
