Our client is an extremely successful, market-leading food retailer with significant turnover. They operate in a highly commercial environment with a fast-paced culture focused on exceeding customer expectations.
This Buyer role is a new position and is ideal for an individual who wants to progress their career in an environment with progression opportunities. The role offers excellent flexible working - 2 days a week in the office and the rest from home.
As Buyer, you will develop, implement, and review a trading strategy for a specific food product range, developing innovative buying strategies that exceed customer expectations. You will create and deliver the category vision focusing on growing cash sales and margin delivery, as well as building long-lasting mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers.
The Buyer will source new suppliers and products that will excite consumers and create value, choice, and quality, growing sales and margin. You will develop and manage a cost reduction strategy that delivers targeted margin and will have a strong understanding of market dynamics and commodities.
Using data and insights and working with internal and external stakeholders, you will develop the strategic plan that will deliver long-term growth.
The ideal candidate for this Buyer role is a commercial individual who has food buying experience gained from UK food retail or wholesale. It is essential to demonstrate hands-on buying and have negotiated directly with suppliers, showcasing different tactics and styles.
In addition, you will demonstrate a passion for the customer, product, and a flair for commerciality. Working as part of a team, you must have excellent relationship-building skills and be able to communicate and influence with internal and external stakeholders.
