We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Payroll Assistant to manage payroll processing for over 400 employees while providing administrative support to the HR team. This role involves handling employee benefits, role changes, staff onboarding, and offboarding. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing multiple payrolls within a month, maintaining accuracy under pressure, and meeting strict deadlines. Strong attention to detail, a process-driven mindset, and the ability to build effective working relationships are essential for success in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processing of 4-weekly and monthly payrolls, covering over circa 400 staff
  • Building a rapport with team leaders to check hours and attendance are recorded correctly
  • Reconciliation of payroll
  • Pension submissions
  • Posting of payroll into management accounts
  • Support with ad-hoc reporting
  • Internal auditing in relation to payroll data - staff hours and overtime for example
  • P11D calculations
  • Actioning liability orders
  • Administration of employee benefit packages
  • Maintaining employee databases
  • General HR administration duties

Person Specification:

  • Accuracy and attention to detail is critical to this role
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight timescales
  • At least 2 years of payroll processing experience
  • A strong working understanding of EXCEL
  • Previous experience of using Sage 50 Payroll (preferable)
