A client within the Public Sector based in South Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Highway Structure Inspector to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a highway structures environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to inspect and record the condition of Highway Structures on the Councils Highway Network to assist with the risk-based policy approach to management of these structures. Inspections are for both the General and Principal Inspections in line with CG300.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Carrying out General, Special, Monitoring, and Principal inspections of Highway Structures such as bridges, retaining walls, large culverts, rural footbridges, and high mast lighting columns for structural defects.
- Liaising with contractors and suppliers to arrange access equipment relevant for Principal Inspections.
- Gaining access to all accessible areas of bridges, requiring a reasonable fitness level for day-to-day duties and the ability to carry survey equipment.
- Inputting and retrieving data from electronic record systems/databases using AMX, the structures asset management software adopted by the council.
- Assisting in managing the inspection programme for both General and Principal inspections to ensure timely completion in line with council policy.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
- BICS Lantra Bridge Inspector Certification Scheme or ADEPT-approved scheme equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
- A full UK driving license.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Experience in local government highway structure inspections and asset management.
- Strong project management and contractor liaison skills.
- Proficiency in using asset management software such as AMX.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £24 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £19 per hour PAYE).
