Children's Social Worker

Location: Maidstone Kent (On the road)

Hours: 3 months Contract (with likely extension at the end of the period)

Salary: 29.23 per hour

What we're looking for

We seek an individual dedicated to helping children and families improve their lives. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Social Work, a Diploma in Social Work (DipSW), or an equivalent qualification and have completed the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE). Emotional Resilience and strong skills in teamwork and partnership collaboration are also essential.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manage a Children & Families caseload to include complex and diverse cases, involving assessments, reviews, and the preparation of welfare reports and court attendance to effectively meet the client group's needs.
  • Initiate and develop close working partnerships with statutory agencies, voluntary and private sector agencies, carers, and those responsible for parental responsibility to facilitate good outcomes for children and their families.
  • Complete effective and timely recording of accurate information using agreed systems.
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of legislation, local policies, and procedures, particularly those relating to Looked-After Children, Children in Need, and Child Protection, acting by these to ensure consistency and high-quality service delivery.
  • Attend training courses and other development opportunities as agreed with the line manager to ensure compliance with HCPC and SCCF requirements.
  • Maintain an awareness of changes in child development.
  • Use appropriate theory and research to inform practice.
  • Prepare applications for submission to Family Courts and represent the County Council's Children & Families Service.
