College Support / Security Officer Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire Working hours: Monday to Friday 7:30am – 5:30pm, with a late shifts every 4-5 weeks (11am – 9pm) Weekly hours and Pay: Full time – 37.5 hours per week, £12 p/h Duration: Temporary – Permanent Stafflex are looking for a security officer to work at an Educational Institution in Huddersfield. As a Security Officer you will have to interact with teenagers of various backgrounds and understand reasons and causes of certain behaviours. This is an ideal opportunity for somebody from the youth support industry looking to gain a long-term career. You will be operating CCTV, have awareness of health and Safety and know how to cope in a conflict situation. Core Competencies / duties: Able to use initiative and be innovative in resolving issues Emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and empathy Great communication skills Ability to effectively communicate with teenagers De-escalation skills Excellent teamwork Computer literacy Commitment to Improving working practices Monitor the control room (monitoring of CCTV) Pastoral care and support Follow appropriate safeguarding processes and procedures Assist in all security related tasks; evacuating of building, navigating of people to correct departments, assisting with the access to and from the building etc…Advantageous skills: Youth engagement experience is mandatory. Full UK Driving Licence Must have experience working in Pastoral Care / Behavioural Support Experience working within a customer focused environment Experience working within care Experience in the education industry Knowledge of monitoring CCTV systems An up-to-date, enhanced DBS certificate uploaded on the online update system is required for this role. All suitable applicants ideally should have relevant training or experience working in the support industry for youth / vulnerable adults if not the educational setting. And have or be willing to gain an enhanced child and adult DBS as this role will require you to deal with the needs / behaviours of various complexities and age groups. This is a very hands on youth engagement role which requires a high level of flexibility, adaptability, safeguarding understanding and procedures as well as ability to work extremely well under pressure using your own initiative!
