Our client is a leading engineering company specializing in innovative power solutions. With a strong commitment to quality, performance, and compliance, we are seeking a skilled NPD Mechanical Engineer to join their New Product Development (NPD) team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge designs and deliver high-quality products to meet customer needs.

The Role

As an NPD Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and delivery of new and enhanced products. You will collaborate with internal teams, key customers, and suppliers to ensure that products meet performance, compliance, and quality standards while optimizing for cost and manufacturability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead concept creation based on market and customer requirements, including involvement in Voice of Customer (VOC) exercises.
  • Develop mechanical designs using analysis tools and create detailed drawings, models, and schematics using CAD software (Creo, Inventor, or equivalent).
  • Define, lead, and support FMEA analysis, validation, and testing programs.
  • Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability (DFM) and meet performance criteria.
  • Produce technical specifications, BOMs, test reports, and documentation to support product use and compliance.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Improve systems and processes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards (e.g., CE, UL, CSA).

What We're Looking For

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BS/BEng) or a relevant discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in a New Product Development (NPD) role.
  • Proficiency in Creo, Inventor, or equivalent CAD software.
  • Experience in machine design.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to perform sizing calculations.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) status is a bonus but not required.
