The Company Our client is at the forefront of their FMCG manufacturing sector. Due to a sustained period of growth and success they are now looking to recruit a Buyer. The Role The Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of the goods and services the business needs to operate on a day-to-day basis. This includes direct product requirements as well as supporting wider business needs for indirect purchasing. You will manage the Material Planner ensuring tactical purchasing, supporting the manufacturing operation by having all required raw materials to enable production completion on time in full, and in line with the agreed plan. Work with the Strategic Buyer to facilitate the sourcing and evaluation of potential suppliers. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to negotiate favourable terms. Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and OTIF. Collaborate with other departments to ensure product alignment with company needs. Management responsibility of Material Planner; providing coaching and informal training within existing role. Managing purchase order process of all commodities, ensuring timely and accurate ordering of stock in line with production plan. Monitor inventory levels to avoid stock shortages or overstocking situations. Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods. Negotiate pricing and contracts with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing while maintaining product quality. Analyze market trends to forecast pricing changes and mitigate cost risks consult with the strategic buyer and quality assurance on supplier status, produce monthly reporting on all the above as required by Departmental Manager. The Person Must have previous experience in a buying role within FMCG manufacturing. You will have experience using MRP systems and excellent IT skills. Have good interpersonal skills. Previous negotiating experience. Highly computer literate. A logical and systematic approach to work. Good time management ability. The ability to solve problems and make decisions, as well as think laterally and offer creative solutions. Commercial awareness and numeracy skills. The ability to manage change.
