Your new company and role Hays' client is a private sector organisation based in East Lothian. The organisation is looking for a datacentre engineer to assist them on an initial 6-month contract with a view to going temp-to-perm. This role will be on-site, thus the client requires you to be an easy commute away.
This role will consist of the following:
- Providing 3rd Level Hardware break fix to the organisation's HPE X86 estate
- Providing IMAC service (install/Decom/Moves) across datacentres leveraging the customers' tools, such as Part Surfer, Intelligent provisioning, CMDB, ServiceNow
- Providing a smart hands service to the IT Security team, across their Datacentre located kit, from troubleshooting to replacing the entire unit through an RMA process, then installing base configuration for replacement device to allow IT Security to obtain remote access
- Providing Tape Management (Ejects/loads) for the Remote Backup team
- Requirement for on-call cover out of hours including weekends (1 in 4)
- There may be a requirement to travel between 2 local datacentres, but this is not on a regular basis
- Rota of early/late shift
