We are looking for a Project Director to manage cradle-to-grave delivery of an exciting project pipeline from pre-FEED stage through to operations. The division represents various projects, some of which will be the UK’s largest of their kind. Coming on board as a Project Director, this role will act as part of the key divisional leadership team alongside the Engineering Director, Head of Commercial and wider project services function.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will take on responsibility for some of the project pipeline, defined by project requirements, pipelines and timeframes. For the assigned portfolio you will act as the hands-on Project Director managing in-house multidisciplinary project teams through design, development and delivery phases.
Project Director responsibilities:- Lead the strategic project engagement functions including early contractor involvement, value engineering, head contract tendering process and execution.
- Responsible for key aspects of project delivery activities including reference to design development, project development and tracking, construction delivery, and commissioning of generating assets, all within the allocated project scope, time and budget.
- Act as the hands-on manager for a multi-functional project team including both internal and external resources.
- Ensure monthly project deliverables are completed including delivery plans, status reports, cost reports.
- Manage project budgeting and programme for successful delivery.
- Lead value engineering, construction analysis and design/document review to maximise delivery outcomes.
- Manage contract administration and superintendent services through delivery phase.
- Deliver strong commercial outcomes across the projects.
- Manage HSE requirements across project sites and deliverables.
- Prepare project reports, technical reviews and other capital infrastructure project deliverables to a high level of technical competence.
- Resolve commercial and technical issues as they arise.
- Ensure project specific and statutory requirements are met ensuring all local and national building codes are followed with all issues reported through the appropriate channels.
- Demonstrable experience successfully delivering construction projects from inception to operation as the Project Lead. This should represent project values of £100m+ within your personal responsibility.
- Experience working as project lead within an EPC or principal contractor environment is beneficial.
- Sector experience across the wider Energy & Power environment highly beneficial.
- Sound knowledge of project financial management including forecasting, procurement, contract management, schedule management and design management functions.
- Experience managing/overseeing quality control, completion, and commissioning processes.
- Strong knowledge of health, safety and environmental management.
- Good understanding of different procurement and contracting models.
- Experience in negotiating with contractors across pricing, procurement, large contract T&Cs, risk profiling for major construction packages.
- Capable of leading and communicating clearly at all organisational levels from C-suite to junior team members.
- Negotiation and communication skills with varied internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical background with a degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
- Hands-on approach and positive attitude.
This role will spend time between project sites throughout England and corporate HQ in London, so willingness to spend time both on site and in the office are essential.
