Aon is looking for a Principal Claims Consultant. As part of our Aon Global Risk Consulting business group, an industry-leading team, you will help empower better decisions for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions. You will report directly to the Director of Aon’s Claims Preparation, Advocacy and Valuation team in the United Kingdom. The role is to lead and handle large, sophisticated property damage / business interruption losses on behalf of Aon Commercial Risk Clients.
Key aspects of the roles & responsibilities include:
- Advising on initial decisions with regards to mitigation and reinstatement to regain pre-loss operational position in the most cost effective and time efficient manner.
- Assisting in resolving cause of the incident and working with the insurers loss adjusters to establish how the policy will respond.
- Calculating an order of magnitude and cash flow forecast to always ensure a cash neutral position.
- Collating, allocating and supporting all items of expenditure to substantiate the claim in accordance with the terms of the policy.
- Providing advice into the methodology and quantification of business interruption losses.
- Compiling interim claim submissions through to a final submission with a negotiated settlement.
- Leading the claims process through to successful settlement and closure.
- Leading communication with clients, insurers, loss adjusters and other third parties involved.
- Being the main point of contact for the insured’s risk management and site personnel.
- Being the main point of contact to manage loss adjusters and other insurer representatives.
- Providing Aon clients with pre-loss assessments of their programmes.
- Working in accordance with the Aon UK Limited Risk Management Framework, and compliance with the Aon UK Limited policies, including participation in the management of risks that may adversely affect the business, interests or reputation of any Group Company.
Additionally, as a principal consultant, you will be encouraged to contribute to the practice group’s growth strategy including:
- Developing and implementing strategies to expand relationships with internal and external clients of the firm.
- Understanding client and market trends to expand the team's service offering.
- Developing and maintaining broad relationships with potential opportunity providers within or outside the Aon network.
- Possessing positive continuous relationships within the loss adjusting and claims industry.
- Assisting in driving forward key initiatives of leadership.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in Natural Resources, Power, Energy or Renewables claims a plus.
- Experience as a qualified loss adjuster, forensic accountant, claims manager, claims consultant or equivalent; taking care of commercial lines and multinational clients.
- Strong policy interpretation, and technical insurance skills.
- Knowledge in project scheduling and construction estimating.
- Knowledge of replacement valuations or physical property.
- Ability to lead a large claim and conduct C-suite level discussions.
- Strong project management, communication and customer management skills.
- Strong client advocacy skills.
- Effective communication of information for explaining technical concepts.
- Ability to work interpersonally with various project, internal, and client teams.
- Ability to effectively network.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes at short notice.
- Languages preferred; MS Office proficiency crucial.
