Job Description
Collateral BA
Rate: Inside IR35 via Umbrella company – £693.53
Location: London – Hybrid – 3 days in the office
Duration: 6 months [potential for extensions]
Role Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Securities Collateral Business Analyst to join our Global Treasury, Liquidity Team. The ideal candidate must possess specific knowledge of securities, including debt and equity, as well as trading securities. Our team is responsible for safeguarding and optimising the Group’s balance sheet and ensuring that the Group’s entities adhere to the liquidity risk management framework.
The purpose of this role is to support the Liquidity Team by collaborating with the business and other stakeholders to enhance the Bank’s securities collateral capabilities. The role holder will demonstrate expertise in liquidity and funding, playing an instrumental role in Treasury’s Securities workstream. They will take ownership of key topics and lead the development and implementation of the securities collateral workstream globally.
Key Responsible
• Product and business knowledge
o Self-starter with demonstratable subject matter expert knowledge on collateral management and liquidity measures, able to lead the team on key topics and manage offshore resources
o Strong experience and knowledge of fixed income, equities, collateral and key drivers of liquidity
o Understanding of secured financing transactions including repurchase agreements (repos), reverse repos, and securities lending and trading and borrowing
o Experience within a Treasury department and strong liquidity management background within a financial institution
o Proven experience in developing relationships with key stakeholders and working closely with business lines, regional liquidity teams, Markets Treasury and MSS
• Regulations
o Familiarly with collateral management processes and the underlying regulatory requirements in BAU and resolution, including the Resolvability Assessment Framework
o In depth understanding of key liquidity measures as per the Group Framework (ILM, LCR, NSFR, PRA110, and other secondary monitoring metrics)
o Proven experience working across business, regional and country dynamics with varying local regulations
o Experience working closely with regional Treasury teams to set and monitor limits as part of the Group Framework
• Data Analytics and Testing
o Proven experience in platforms such as Tableau, Qlik, or Looker in order to develop complex dashboards and infographics. Translating business requirements related to securities collateral into technical changes. Proficient with calculations, permissioning and row level security
o Ability to query big data, perform data transformation and data analysis on large datasets to synthesise key themes and issue
o Proven experience in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including release and defect management, and issue escalation
o Problem solving and analytical skills. Preference for candidates with proficiency in Python or equivalent for data analysis, extraction, and manipulation
Knowledge and Experience:
• Strong knowledge of Collateral Management within the context of liquidity and funding
• Understanding appropriate areas of key liquidity measures as per the Group Framework (ILM, LCR, NSFR, PRA110, and other secondary monitoring metrics), Bank financial systems, related business areas, products and their strategic drivers
• Ability to work independently, manage offshore resources and influence key stakeholders to ensure there is alignment on the delivery of key initiatives
• Experience within a Treasury department and strong liquidity management background within a financial institution
• Strong financial product knowledge and experience in fixed income and equity products
• Understanding of HSBC group structure and product range and excellent understanding of the HSBC Group operational structure and its global businesses and functions
• Self starter, capable of working independently with minimal supervision. An ability to rapidly absorb and refine new concepts
• Develop relationships with stakeholders and provide subject matter expertise and analysis to support decision making
• Experience in drafting documentation to senior management forums
• Requires agility, as well as the ability to work with ambiguity and to quickly assess and prioritise in a fast-paced working environment
• Well-developed capacity to process high volumes of complex information and synthesise key themes and issues
• Very strong interpersonal and communication skills, with highly developed capacity to influence other stakeholders
• Proven experience working across business, regional and country dynamics. Understands how conflicts can be managed to deliver assigned tasks
• Strategic thinker with deep knowledge of the financial services industry and global market place, who is used to applying product and industry knowledge to individual contributor work
• Resilient. Able to manage self and others with diverse perspectives to deliver to tight deadlines
• Culturally aware and likely to have exhibited such by delivering strong results, cross border and ideally across a number of business and product disciplines
• Excellent time management, planning and organisation skills, with the ability to understand the scope of dependencies across the Group
• Preference for candidates with proficiency in Python for data manipulation and data analysis
• Experience with tableau desktop/tableau server
• Understand dashboarding in tableau (containers, text, floating)
• Proficient with calculations (if, case, LOD's)
• Understand basic principles around permissioning and row level security.
