This is a fixed term contract until the end of June 2026. This role can be based out of our London or Leicester offices. We operate a hybrid working policy.

Quality Chapter: You might not think it, but remaining the first choice for savvy homeware-shoppers involves some pretty advanced tech. We’ve moved our whole tech effort serverless, making us one of the largest users of AWS Lambdas in Europe, and we’re bringing more and more tech into our stores. As a Quality Chapter at Dunelm, our aim is to enable and support our ability to deliver high quality value, in the right way, based on our customer needs. With a focus on having the right balance of speed and quality to frequently achieve this. To be able to succeed, our Quality Chapter is made up of 60+ quality advocates (QAs), in various roles, embedded into our 20+ crews and across our 6 domains to enable & implement continuous quality & testing through whole team ownership.

What you’ll be doing: As a member of the Quality chapter, you will work with the crews, where your primary focus will be an advocate of Quality and Quality Engineering practices. You will work collaboratively to deliver high quality outcomes to our customers. You will be working as part of a team to help manually test and verify features and changes across our estate, to deliver value to our internal and external customers. You will have an interest in learning how to drive efficiencies and process improvements through automation. You are someone who isn’t afraid to ask difficult questions when something doesn’t seem right. You use evidence-driven reasoning to support your perspective, confidently persuading others when necessary. As a collaborative team player, you work effectively with colleagues from diverse disciplines, ensuring that decisions are well-informed and aligned with shared goals.

  • Collaborating on customer focused outcomes based on business need
  • Compiling applicable test data for use during various testing stages as needed
  • Create and execute (manual and / or automated) test scenarios which demonstrate the business condition/behaviour under test and the expected results
  • Testing releases by 3rd party suppliers and communicating on quality and testing practices where necessary
  • Track system related defects and ensure they are resolved in a timely manner
  • Utilise testing frameworks that fit with the products under test and for use within a continuous Integration and deployment pipeline
  • Working collaboratively with the development team to ensure that quality is built into everything we do at Dunelm, focusing on bug prevention
  • Help innovate and deliver continuous improvements within the crew(s) and Quality chapter

Essential Skills:
  • A demonstrable interest or experience in a quality-focused role.
  • Working in an Agile environment to ensure quality is driven from the start and throughout the delivery process; not hesitant to pivot quickly and change direction.
  • Effective communication skills that will help to support conversations to align on acceptance criteria.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving mindset.
  • The ability to learn lots of different tools to support testing techniques with a focus on the problem looking to be solved.
  • Able to challenge the status quo; ask the right questions in pursuit of better outcomes but also be receptive to feedback from others.
  • Experience with different testing techniques/approaches such as exploratory testing, along with when and where to apply them.
  • Quality-first mindset and customer focused.
  • Keen interest in the latest technological advancements and a desire to continue learning and exploring.
Desirable Skills:
  • Can undertake or have attempted to learn basic code, whether it’s a scripting language or other language.
  • An understanding of the software-development lifecycle.
  • Knowing basic architecture of how the frontend and backend of an application hangs together.
  • Supporting technical skills such as version control (Git) and some simple command line usage.
