About Cleo

People come to Cleo to do work that matters. Every day, we empower people to build a life beyond their next paycheck, building a beloved AI that enables you to forge your own path toward financial well-being. Backed by some of the most well-known investors in tech, we’ve reached millions of people to support them throughout their financial lives, from their first paycheck to their first home and beyond. We’re hitting headlines too. This year, Forbes named us as one of their Next Billion Dollar Startups, and we were crowned the 'Hottest Tech Scaleup' at the Europas.

You will be the Lead Product Analyst in our payments collections team, leveraging data to chart the path to net profitability at one of the UK’s fastest growing startups. You will play an instrumental role in defining and prioritising the team’s long term and short term roadmaps to build a best-in-class payments processing engine. Initially, you will help define and own the key metrics which measure the efficiency of our payments engine. Using these metrics, you will identify opportunities to optimise when and how we take payments while balancing revenue and the cost of payments. This is a unique opportunity to maximise profitability. Your work will soon grow beyond this brief into broader matters of company performance. You’ll also sit within the wider data function here at Cleo; a hotshot chapter of 60 Machine Learning Engineers, Product Analysts, and Analytic Engineers with significant industry experience who are at the heart of everything we do at Cleo.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct deep-dive analysis of the payments ecosystem to identify the highest impact areas for growth.
  • Dig deep into our user behaviour and payments data to conduct root cause analysis on unexpected metric movements.
  • Define key payments-related metrics and track KPIs to assess the efficiency of our payments platform.
  • Work alongside our engineering, product, and data science partners to build a best-in-class payments intelligence.
  • Conduct regular A/B tests and causal analyses to determine the impact of product changes on success metrics.
  • Work with Analytics Engineering to prioritise data modelling needs in your area as well as directly contributing to our transformed data codebase.

About you

  • You are a system thinker: You like approaching problems, opportunities, and challenges by understanding the interconnected components of a payments ecosystem.
  • You have multiple years of experience doing quantitative analysis within a digital product environment.
  • You have solid SQL experience and know how to dig deep through various data sources to find insights.
  • You have a demonstrated history of helping drive team strategy through building roadmaps and prioritising initiatives.
  • You have a proven track record of proactively optimising processes through data-led insights.
  • You are comfortable with defining metrics from scratch and creating dashboards.
  • You are familiar with conducting large-scale A/B experiments.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with payment systems, particularly US payment rails (e.g. ACH), and experience working with third-party data (payments processors, risk engines, or data aggregators).

What do you get for all your hard work?

  • A competitive compensation package (base + equity). This is an AX4 position as described in our public skills framework - The band for this role is £90K-£113K.
  • Work at a fast-growing UK startup, backed by top VC firms - Sofina, Balderton, EQT Ventures - that still has a sense of its values.
  • A clear progression plan. You will always have a clear development plan, built using our skills framework, and a people-manager who works hard to help you on that journey.
  • Hybrid-first: Join our hybrid-first team, where we blend the best of both remote and in-office work. We expect our team members to be in our London office 1-2 times a week.
  • Performance reviews every 8 months, with generous pay increases and equity top-ups for high performers.
  • Private Medical Insurance, dental cover, life assurance.
  • 25 days annual leave + 1 additional day for every year you spend at Cleo (+ public holidays).
  • 1 month paid sabbatical after 4 years at Cleo.
  • Enhanced parental leave.
  • Access to Learnerbly, Reforge, and other L&D portals.
