What You’ll Be Doing
- The Charity Audit team at Goodman Jones is continuing to grow, and this is a brand-new role focused 100% on charity clients, working closely with our dedicated Charity Managers.
- You’ll gain hands-on experience, take on real responsibility, and work on charity audits and Independent Examinations, all while developing technical expertise.
- You’ll also gain exposure to more complex charities with trading subsidiaries and UK-registered charities with international interests.
- Leading smaller charity audits – Taking ownership from planning to completion, working directly with managers and partners.
- Building technical expertise – Working across different charities, including grant-funded organisations, membership bodies, and social enterprises.
- Getting hands-on experience – Conducting detailed audit testing, assessing financial risk, and working with CaseWare and Data Snipper.
- Client interaction – Acting as a key point of contact, answering queries, and managing expectations with finance teams and trustees.
- Supporting junior staff – Reviewing work, providing feedback, and mentoring audit assistants.
- Statutory accounts preparation – Ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, Charities SORP, and FRS 102.
- Corporate tax computations – Assisting with tax compliance for charity clients.

Who This Role is For

- Working towards ACA qualification (ideally Certificate Level completed, progressing toward Professional Level).
- At least 1 year of audit experience in a UK practice.
- Charity sector experience – Your experience working on charity audits has piqued your interest, and you’re ready to make a bigger impact.
- Tech-savvy – Comfortable with audit software like CaseWare, Data Snipper, and CCH, plus accounting platforms like Xero and QuickBooks.
- Strong communicator – Able to build relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Organised & detail-focused – Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Experience working with charities with international interests or trading subsidiaries.
- Exposure to Independent Examinations.
- Familiarity with grants, VAT issues, or governance reporting in charities.
Salary & Application Details
- Salary: £33,000 – £36,000 (based on experience & exam progress).
- 35-hour workweek – Because your personal time matters.
