A fantastic opportunity has arisen within the Luxury 5* Corporate Hotel brand, Canary Riverside Plaza Hotel in Canary Wharf, East London. We are currently recruiting a Security Manager to be a part of our main Operational Heartbeat of the Hotel, the Security Department.

Key qualities we are looking from the Security Manager:

As a member of the Hotel Head of Department Management Team, the appointed Security Manager's main goal is to serve the needs of the whole Hotel Property, our Guests and our Colleagues by safeguarding the physical well-being of the property, the Hotel Assets, all Employees and Guests.

The ideal candidate will have the following Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience as a Security Manager in a Central London 5* Luxury Hotel (Independent 5* Luxury Hotel is a plus!) with leading a team of highly skilled Security Officers.
  • Experience of managing a team of Security Officers, providing full Training, Support and ongoing guidance.
  • A strong track record of maintaining full Security adherence to all Assets, Employees and Guests.
  • Must have full Experience of managing Guest Resolution Skills.
  • Must have a strong track record of maintaining all Health and Safety protocols, maintaining all Health and Safety Legal Documentation with running Statutory Health and Safety (including Fire Safety) Training sessions to all Employees.
  • Must have experience of working in a variety of shifts including Early Mornings, Nights, Weekends and Public Holidays.
  • Must be an Excellent Communicator and be Self Driven.
  • Must have Health and Safety Certification and SIA License.

The main responsibilities for this role would include:

  • To supervise and administer Security Department to ensure the highest standard and procedures are maintained.
  • To train, guide and encourage Security departments staff and introduce new methods as required.
  • To monitor staff performance throughout the 24 hour shift period and carry out unannounced inspections.
  • To assist with Fire, Life safety and Health and Safety matters.
  • To induct new members of staff in Fire, Security and Health and Safety related matters.
  • To identify areas of potential security weakness, survey, assess and propose remedial action.
  • To liaise with contractors in the preparation of estimates as required.
  • To ensure that Security practices and procedures are adhered to by all other Departments and bring to light any discrepancies.
  • To provide Security advice and training to all departments.
  • To liaise with clients regarding their special (Security) needs and devise the means to fulfil them.
  • To brief the General Manager and all Heads of Department Managers on a regular basis regarding current trends and incidents.
  • To liaise with all outside bodies, i.e. Police, Customs and Excise, Chief Security Officers from other hotels and other organisations and attend presentations and seminars on Security related matters.
  • Attend all appropriate meetings both In House and elsewhere.
  • To serve on committees as required.
  • To attend court to monitor proceedings of cases in which the Hotel may have a direct or indirect interest.
  • To maintain hotel security, guest safes and safety deposit boxes.
  • To assist guests and investigate as a result of loss, theft or damage.
  • To ensure a correct lost and found property procedure is followed at all times.
  • To monitor the overall security of the hotel building and surrounding area, i.e. by patrol, exits, alarm systems and CCTV supervision.
  • To assist the Security Officers in selling our service and high standards as a marketing concept.
