The Role: We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our growing engineering team and build out our backend third-party integration systems as we scale. You will work closely with Product, Operations, Customer Support, Growth, and other functions to design and build a reliable, performant, and secure platform for handling remittances across countries.
Your Responsibilities:
- Build out a unified interface encapsulating dozens of third-party payment integrations
- Work on one of the pillar revenue centers of the organization
- Take ownership of backend system architecture and implementation
- Build performant and resilient data flows, keeping security in mind
- Work closely with the product team to regularly ship working features
- Evaluate and deliver timeline estimates
Requirements:
- 7+ years of professional experience building backend systems
- Proficiency with Kotlin or Java / JVM
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL
- Experience with AWS: S3, SQS, SNS, Lambda, etc.
- Experience implementing and managing elaborate integrations with third-party APIs
- Experience working on systems that have real-world performance and reliability constraints
- Strong communication skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities
Ideally:
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code technologies, like Terraform and Ansible
- Experience with SRE or similar infrastructure work
- High personal code/development standards (code review, unit testing, documentation, etc.)
