The role involves leading the existing listed investment companies' team in the UK and developing a broader company secretarial function to support all listed companies. In this position, you will report directly to the Regional Head of Operations, Corporate Solutions and will also work closely with the Global Head of Operations Corporate Solutions and other key stakeholders in connection with the performance of your duties.
The ideal candidate will come from a company secretarial or legal background with extensive experience of providing services to listed companies including investment companies. You will have a proven record of leading teams, delivering an exceptional service to clients and driving revenue growth.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Lead the listed Company Secretarial function ensuring collaboration with wider stakeholders from the group, such as Regional Heads, Business and Product Development teams, to capitalise on commercial growth opportunities for listed company services.
- Manage and deliver a programme of continuous improvement to provide a best-in-class company secretarial service consistent with the prevailing Apex operational strategy.
- Ensure that governance procedures and processes adhere to best practice standards.
- Be an escalation point and subject matter expert for technical queries from all stakeholders within the business.
- Be the main point of contact / escalation point for key client relationships.
- Ensure business KPI's are consistently meeting the specified targets (accuracy, timeliness, and service delivery).
- Support the Country Head, COO and Regional Head of Operations with business planning and the delivery of financial targets including revenue growth, profitability, cash collection and debtor management.
- Manage, motivate and develop team members with a focus on technical competence, commerciality and the development of client relationships.
- Ensure the team has personal development plans, a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities and formal performance evaluations which are reviewed each year.
- Actively support Apex Group strategy, plans, and values, contributing to the achievement of a high-performance culture.
Requirements:
- CGI Qualified.
- Experience operating in a senior role within a large financial services group.
- Excellent technology skills, including in relevant software packages such as Diligent, Board Intelligence, Otter, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Detailed knowledge of UK Corporate Governance Code and Companies Act 2006.
- The ability to think strategically, identify issues and provide and implement effective solutions.
- Being commercially minded, you will have a proven track record of developing revenue for new and existing clients and of generating leads and opportunities.
- Entrepreneurial outlook, using your expertise, knowledge, and experience to create opportunities with current and new clients.
- Excellent networking, communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams.
- Ability to effectively engage and influence people.
- Motivated and driven with an ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines and demanding financial targets.
