Job Description

This is a challenging, high-profile role with significant levels of Ministerial interest, personal accountability and exposure. This means you will be experienced in engaging and working with political leaders at a national and local level. You should be experienced in leading large teams, working with partners and stakeholders and have a proven track record of delivering improved service design and successfully implementing transformational change. Responsibilities

  1. Deputise for the Chief Executive of NHS Scotland
  2. Work with Health and Social Care Directorates to provide advice, support and challenge in the development of policy options.
  3. Lead on the development of planning guidance for NHS Boards.
  4. Lead on the analysis and assessment of NHS Board deliver plans.
  5. Ensure that Ministers are provided with regular advice and analysis on performance across the system.
  6. Provide leadership to actively promote collaborative and single system working to ensure best value and optimal use of resources, including through: Co-Chairing the NHS Planning and Delivery Board and being a key member of the NHS Scotland Executive Group.
  7. Engage closely with NHS Chief Executives and other system leaders to ensure a deep understanding of challenges and opportunities for the improvement and transformation.
  8. Provide advice, support and challenge to NHS Boards and integration Authorities in relation to the development of their plans and delivery against those plans.

Experience

  1. Ability to build a strong team, with an inspirational and collaborative leadership style. Demonstrating strategic insight, innovation and the ability to work across organisational boundaries to improve service delivery.
  2. Ability to build and maintain ambitious partnerships and trusted relationships across senior leadership and high-profile external stakeholders. Gaining the confidence of and influencing Ministers, or similar and Board level stakeholders including senior professionals.

If invited for further assessment, this will consist of an assessment with the Keil Centre including psychometric testing and a stakeholder panel, a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for Health & Social Care and a final panel interview.

Assessments are scheduled for w/c 21 & 28 April; however, this may be subject to change.
