Arthur Chapman, a top 25 litigation defense law firm located in Minneapolis with more than 50 attorneys, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Manager to lead its accounting department. This full-time exempt position offers competitive salary, excellent benefits, and opportunities for professional development and growth.
Salary Range: $85,000 - $120,000 per year, based on experience.

Job Summary: The Accounting Manager oversees all accounting operations, including financial reporting, cash management, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Manager will lead the department’s strategy and success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting processes: general ledger, time entry, accounts payable, and cash management.
- Oversee client accounting functions: client/matter intake, billing, accounts receivable, and trust accounting.
- Lead the accounting team (four employees), ensuring cross-training and development.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, and reports.
- Responsible for month-end closing, bank reconciliations, and annual tax returns with external accounting firm.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and prepare for audits.
- Drive continuous process improvement within the department.
Qualifications:
- Five + years of accounting or finance experience in a professional services environment, ideally in a law firm.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger, accounts payable, and billing/collections.
- Proven leadership, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail is critical.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Emphasis on mutual respect, trust, and collaboration.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Law firm experience and proficiency with SurePoint/LMS+ (or similar financial based software) and Microsoft Office preferred.
