Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 (Women’s RWC 2025) will be the 10th edition of the women's tournament. World Rugby, in partnership with the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and UK Sport, have formed a Local Operating Company to plan and deliver the event. Ambitions for the tournament are at an all-time high as women’s rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in the world. Women’s RWC 2025 will be the ultimate stage for the best players, teams and coaches from 16 nations across the globe and is set to be the biggest and most widely watched women's rugby event ever. We are looking for a Venue Overlay Manager who will be responsible for ensuring the successful planning, execution, and handover of infrastructure at RWC 2025 Venues. This includes managing design development, contractor coordination, cost control, site management, and post-event dismantling. Your role will also support operational planning, data gathering, and knowledge transfer for future events.
What you’ll be doing:
- Oversee the planning, design review, and delivery of the Overlay program including Temporary Infrastructure, Temporary Power, Containment and Maps and Drawing portfolios across the RWC 2025 venues.
- Ensure design compliance and timely delivery through effective planning and programming.
- Manage on-site delivery aspects, including supplier coordination, stadium liaison, cost management, and approval processes.
- Provide support in contract management, including supplier engagement and performance monitoring.
- Assist in managing contract documentation and ensuring compliance with agreed terms.
- Ensure that infrastructure specifications, space allocations, and area requirements are met in line with RWC 2025 standards and fit for purpose.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to refine scope and manage costs.
- Implement change management processes to control project scope and budget.
- Participate and report on regular review meetings with external and internal stakeholders to monitor progress, address challenges, and ensure readiness for RWC 2025.
- Provide guidance and support to junior members of the team to ensure the successful execution of their tasks.
- Foster a collaborative and productive team environment to meet delivery goals.
Experience & knowledge you’ll need:
- Proven experience within a management role within construction, overlay services, or technical services.
- Experience in high-value procurement, cost management, and contract administration.
- Experience in contract management, construction planning, and temporary infrastructure (e.g., tents, cabins, platforms, containment).
- Knowledge in temporary power, HVAC systems, plumbing (water, waste, sanitation), and cabling.
- Ability to prioritize and manage complex tasks from planning through to execution, ensuring all deliverables are met within time and budget constraints.
- Client-facing experience, with an understanding of client needs and a focus on delivering high-quality, scalable solutions.
Nice to Haves:
- Experience working within an international sporting event.
- Familiarity with working with government and official agencies regarding statutory, licensing, and technical regulations.
- Familiarity with technical control and certification processes for temporary buildings.
- Previous experience within venue operations.
- Experience with CAD drawing software or virtual venue software such as Iventis.
- A working knowledge of the international rugby environment.
