We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Trading Underwriter to join our UK wide Delegated Authority/Schemes team. As a Technical Underwriter in this team you will be responsible for servicing brokers who have delegated authority for specific commercial insurance schemes. This role involves managing the business relationship and being the main point of contact for referrals outside the broker’s delegated authority. Working closely with brokers and customers to truly understand their wants and needs, using data and insight to leverage performance and profitability. Working with the broker to enhance efficiencies and bolster growth. This role would suit an experienced Technical Underwriter either from a broker or insurer background that is passionate about developing their career and enjoys nurturing relationships for mutual benefit.
A bit about the job:
- Technical referral support for Brokers and lower licence holders reflecting our Underwriting Strategy and the customer/broker value
- Be knowledgeable of overall Delegated Authority Schemes performance and contribute to overall Aviva strategy
- Have a knowledge of regulatory requirements linked to Delegation of Underwriting authority
- Ensure embedment of material change to Delegated Authority Scheme including documentation, UW Guide, pricing, wordings etc.
- Accountable for identifying areas of profitable development within individual Delegated Authority Schemes
Skills and experience we’re looking for:
- Proven experience within Commercial Motor and/or Commercial Property & Liability underwriting
- Strong relationship management skills
- Ability to handle complex risks and technical referrals, supporting and mentoring more junior members of the team
- Well-developed skills to analyse risks, communicate and present effectively to brokers and/or customers
- Ability to lead and challenge Broker partners with confidence in order to yield a win-win outcome
What you’ll get for this role:
- Starting salary between £40,000 and £60,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications)
- Bonus opportunity - 10% of annual salary. Actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
