Our retained client is looking to expand their established criminal offering with the addition of an ambitious and driven Criminal Litigation Team member. We are interested in hearing from those who already have a firm grounding in private client and regulatory crime and who now wish to develop their career with a dynamic and forward-looking firm.
This is an exciting opportunity for applicants who have a good grounding in all areas of criminal law with broad experience, wanting to help build a private criminal practice. Managing their own caseload advising corporate clients and private individuals, they will also assist with business development and support of the junior members of the team.
Duties:
- Advising and representing clients in criminal matters, including providing legal representation at police stations and court proceedings.
- Drafting legal documents, including correspondence, proofs, witness statements and pleadings.
- Conducting case preparation, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, colleagues, and other professionals within the criminal justice system.
- Advising clients in Magistrates’ and Crown Courts, as well as other tribunals and appellate courts, as required.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and firm requirements, including maintaining accurate records and adhering to confidentiality protocols.
- Providing comprehensive legal advice to clients, conducting case analysis, and collaborating with external professionals such as Barristers, forensic experts, and investigators to build a robust defence.
- Representing clients in disciplinary tribunals, court proceedings, including bail hearings, pre-trial conferences, plea negotiations, trials.
- Demonstrating integrity, accountability, respect and commitment to Gardner Leader.
- Hands-on approach with proven ability to work under pressure.
- Enthusiasm for and proven record of business development.
- Demonstrating excellence in managing all functions of this role.
