We have an exciting opportunity for a CAE Manufacturing Engineer to join our Submarines function within the NBC OBU based at Raynesway, Derby. The job purpose is to create and deliver Computer Aided Machine (CAM) Programs and associated Engineering activities in support of Production Operations.

Use the methods described in corporate process landscapes to programme manage, validate and/or execute tasks and to ensure manufacturing processes are safe and capable of achieving and sustaining the design intent, required production rate, cost and quality and are delivered on time to the business. The NBC CAE Manufacturing Engineer functionally reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager within NBC Production Support Team. They will be operating within a cross-functional team.

They act as the Technical Authority for CAM programs and associated Engineering activities, ensuring product integrity, production rate, cost and quality are met. They work with Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to deliver the Method of Manufacture including machine programs, technical instructions, and operational support. Supported machining operations include gantry mills, vertical turning lathes and other multi-axis machines.

In addition, CAE Manufacturing Engineering assists internal stakeholders in ensuring quality requirements (drawings and specifications) are complete, design for manufacture studies are appropriate and unambiguous before the projects are launched. CAE Manufacturing Engineers play a pivotal role in New Product Introduction (NPI).

What you will be doing: Accountable for creating, maintaining, and governing Machine Programs, Technical Instructions (TI's) and machine tooling etc. for existing and new components alike. Take responsibility for ensuring that your contribution to the CAE team delivers a robust Technical Package for all Rolls-Royce internally manufactured parts. Support the coaching and development of the CAE and Operations team. Review and approve method of manufacture changes with the Manufacturing Engineering stakeholders. Work with the Manufacturing Engineering stakeholders to deliver programme and Method of Manufacture improvements, which will encompass technical continuous improvement opportunities with Operations to improve manufacturing process capability.

Who we’re looking for: At Rolls-Royce we put safety first, do the right thing, keep it simple and make a difference. Ideally, you will be a Professionally Qualified Engineer (e.g. UK minimum HND/foundation degree or other national equivalent) or relevant time served experience. It is desirable to have a recognised national or international engineering accreditation (e.g. UK IEng or CEng) where available.

You must have a general understanding of manufacturing processes relevant to their business. Proficient in use of Computer Aided Machine software to include Teamcenter, PLM, Siemens NX v7.5 or above, Vericut v7.0 or above, similar levels of experience in other CAM software will also be considered. Understanding of machine programming languages including Siemens 840D, Heidenhain, Fanuc, Mazatrol. It is desirable that you understand CAE Manufacturing Engineering processes relevant to their role. Experience of managing several tasks simultaneously, prioritising activities to meet deadlines.
