My client based in Clapham Common is an academically outstanding group of independent schools. They are seeking an enthusiastic Senior Maths Teacher to work alongside our Head of Maths as part of a caring and successful department from September 2025. This post is directly line managed by the Head of Maths.
My client is a three-form entry school and has a selective entrance exam at 8+ with boys joining in Year 4 from their own pre-prep and other schools. Although entry is selective for both internal and external candidates, the majority of boys join us from their own pre-prep school.
The boys are taught by a Class Teacher in Years 4 and Years 5 who delivers the majority of the curriculum to them, including English, maths, science, history and geography. For the final three years of the Prep School (Years 6 - 8) the boys are taught by subject specialists.
As Senior Maths Teacher you will be required to:
- Teach maths to Key Stages 2 and 3;
- Provide detailed instruction in all areas of mathematics in order to boost overall attainment;
- Teach Mathematics up to and including Common Entrance and Public School Scholarship levels;
- Use interesting, inspiring and innovative displays;
- Attend INSET as required by the Head;
- Attend Staff Meetings, Parent’s Evenings and any other functions as required by the Head;
- Build confidence in pupils, support their pastoral needs and create a climate where learning is enjoyable and children are relaxed;
- Play a full part in the life of the school and undertake pastoral/supervisory duties as required.
The School has its own competitive salary which is reviewed annually. The School’s Workplace Pension Scheme is available to all staff.
