Job Description

FinOps Analyst – £60,000-£65,000 – Remote work

We are seeking a FinOps Analyst to play a key role in optimising cloud costs and improving financial efficiency across our clients AWS and Azure environments. In this role, you will work closely with cloud engineers, finance teams, and business stakeholders to implement cost-saving strategies, reduce cloud waste, and drive financial accountability for cloud consumption.

Key Responsibilities include:

Cloud Cost Optimisation & Waste Reduction

  • Identify cloud workload usage patterns and resource allocations to optimise spending.
  • Implement cost-saving measures such as right-sizing VMs and leveraging reserved instances & savings plans.
  • Use cloud portals (Azure Portal, AWS Console) and CLI tools to execute quick cost-saving wins.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on cloud waste reduction.

FinOps Strategy & Execution

  • Work closely with the FinOps Specialist to execute their recommendations efficiently.
  • Utilise FinOps tools to track, manage, and optimise cloud spending.
  • Collaborate with subscription owners to implement cost-optimisation strategies.
  • Monitor and report on key FinOps KPIs to track progress and financial impact.

Process Documentation & Training

  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of FinOps processes, policies, and best practices.
  • Develop training materials to upskill internal teams on cloud cost management.
  • Support the handover process to the internal FinOps team, ensuring a smooth knowledge transfer.

Key Skills & Experience Required

Extensive Cloud Administration Experience

  • Hands-on experience managing AWS & Azure environments.
  • Certifications preferred: Azure Administrator (AZ-104), AWS SysOps (SOA-C02), or equivalent.

Technical Proficiency in Cloud Resource Management

  • Strong knowledge of Azure & AWS cloud architecture.
  • Ability to use Azure Portal, AWS Console, and CLI tools for cost analysis and optimisation.

FinOps Tools & Best Practices

  • Experience using FinOps tools for cost monitoring and optimisation.
  • Ability to interpret FinOps reports and implement cost-saving recommendations.

Strong Communication & Leadership Skills

  • Ability to lead technical initiatives and coordinate with various teams.
  • Proven experience in working with stakeholders across IT, finance, and cloud operations.

Process Documentation & Training

  • Excellent documentation skills to track optimisation strategies and policies.
  • Experience in training teams on FinOps best practices.
