Salary Range: 34,000 – 38,000 per annum
Role Description:
This is a full-time role for a Senior Technician at a workshop based in Perivale, London. The Senior Technician will assist the supervisor in the preparation, construction, and execution of models and effects, adhering to provided technical specifications. The role involves building animatronics, mechanical rigs, models, miniatures, and props.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Current clean driving licence.
- Expertise in precision engineering and model making.
- Sound working knowledge of workshop processes, including machining, welding, moulding, and vacuum forming.
- Familiarity with commonly used materials such as plastics, metals, and timber.
- Experienced in using SFX equipment, including smoke machines, steam generators, water FX, gas and flame equipment, air mortars, and motorised equipment.
- Ability to interpret and work to technical drawings, sketches, and specifications.
- Strong understanding of electro-mechanical equipment, wiring circuits, hydraulic principles, pneumatics, pumping systems, wire and pulley systems, and gas and flame equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of safety legislation related to mechanical, electrical, and other projects.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective team communication.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience in the film, television, or live events industry.
- Degree or certification in a relevant field such as Special Effects, Engineering, or Design.
- Knowledge of lighting and camera equipment.
- Proficiency in CAD.
- Familiarity with pyrotechnics.
