An exciting opportunity has arisen to shape the future of Ophthalmology services at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust (RFL).
This is an incredibly exciting time as we look to innovate and redefine how ophthalmology care is delivered to our patients across North Central London (NCL). We are searching for a dynamic, forward-thinking operations manager to join our team and play a crucial role in driving forward these ground-breaking changes.
Main duties of the job
As our Ophthalmology Operations Manager, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact, delivering high-level operational excellence while shaping the future direction of the service. You will be working within a team of dedicated professionals to enhance the quality, efficiency, and delivery of services in a very exciting service.
We are looking for a candidate who:
- Has substantial experience in a management role within the NHS
- Possesses strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Is creative, forward-thinking, and passionate about delivering exceptional services in healthcare with the opportunity to grow the Ophthalmology surgical hub and driven forward private practice integration
- Has the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels
- Is dedicated to continuous improvement and committed to advancing their career within the NHS, particularly at RFL
- Has experience in delivering high-level operational work with a focus on strategic planning and project management

Qualifications
- Evidence of continuing personal development
- 1st degree or equivalent
Experience
- Significant senior operational management experience, in the NHS or equivalent
- Leading and managing change within a complex environment
- Strategic planning and project management
- Managing large and complex budgets
Skills and Knowledge
- Leadership of a multidisciplinary team and delivering to deadlines and within resources.
- Acute operational management experience in a complex healthcare organisation
- Management of staff
- Service planning and project management
- Broad understanding of the NHS and key policy issues which effect performance
- Aptitude to engage in constructive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to achieve success through partnership
- Budgetary management skills
- Knowledge of strategic financial planning
- Ability to achieve effective team working within the division and across divisions
- Numerate, IT literate, analytical and able to use business intelligence effectively. Demonstrate advanced influencing and negotiation skills
