SYSTRA is looking for an experienced team leader to manage the Highways Engineering Team in the North of England. Based from either Manchester, Leeds or York, this person will be required to give leadership to the team at all grades, help the team manage their existing workload, bring in new work in the north of England and help develop the skills of the UK SYSTRA Highway offer.
Main Duties- Identifies, develops and maintains client relationships through regular contact.
- Demonstrates awareness of clients’ business environment, commercial and/or political objectives, and critical success factors.
- Capable of negotiating satisfactory outcomes for both client and SYSTRA of a project change.
- Able to translate a sell-on opportunity into a winning proposal.
- Ensures standard of client care is consistently maintained.
- Revalidates value to client of project deliverables on an ongoing basis.
- Seeks opportunities for joint presentation of work with clients.
- Encourages shared accountability within a project team.
- Seeks to resolve team tensions - is proactive in addressing conflict or differences of opinion.
- Understands aims and objectives of appraisal process and works to ensure effectiveness.

- Understands contractual obligations and actively manages risks.
- Ably manages complex/high value proposals including identification of potential risks, devising approach, resourcing and costs.
- Ensures deliverables specified in proposals have acceptance criteria that are clear to the client.
- Uses thorough knowledge of contract terms and conditions to minimise commercial risks.
- Requires considerable professional experience and expertise to manage complex, large or non-standard scenarios, requiring high levels of leadership of highways projects.
- Grasps the relationship between complex ideas and weighs up long term implications, in a highway’s context.
- Experience in managing and developing highways team members to reach full potential.
- Have full understanding of Highway design standards such as DMRB and Manual for Streets 2.
- Experience of Rail Sector would be beneficial but not essential.
