Accounts Assistant

Our client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join its small finance team in Leicestershire. This role is ideal for an individual currently studying towards an AAT qualification or a finance graduate looking to expand their accounting experience.

Reporting directly to the Company Accountant, the successful candidate will be responsible for a range of accounting duties, contributing to the smooth operation of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintaining and updating the sales ledger and purchase ledger

• Assisting with month-end reconciliations and reporting

• Credit control, including chasing overdue invoices and resolving payment issues

• Processing invoices, expenses, and payments accurately and in a timely manner

• Assisting with bank reconciliations and cash flow management

• Supporting the Company Accountant with financial reporting and analysis

• Handling supplier and customer queries efficiently

• Ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures

Key Requirements

• Studying towards an AAT qualification or holding a finance-related degree (desirable)

• Previous experience in a finance or accounts role is desirable but not essential

• Working knowledge of Sage 50 is desirable

• Strong numerical and analytical skills with great attention to detail

• Excellent communication and organisational skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

This role is based in Leicestershire and if an office based role, Monday-Friday, 9-5.30pm.
