The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

As the Highways Design Engineer your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Produce design packages, reports and other deliverables to achieve project outcomes;
  • Organise and undertake site visits and surveys;
  • Deliver successful projects to agreed time and cost expectations whilst ensuring work is undertaken in compliance with internal quality standards and processes;
  • Ensure work is undertaken in compliance with Health & Safety and Environmental legislation;
  • Resource planning and co-ordination of multi-disciplinary teams, including sub consultants;
  • Staff and people management including training and development and staff performance reviews;
  • Working collaboratively with customers to understand and develop project objectives and deliverables;
  • Managing, building and developing customer relationships.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Incorporated Engineer or highly experienced engineer working towards IEng/CEng;
  • Design and construction experience in the highways sector;
  • A commercial awareness in the delivery of projects;
  • Awareness/experience of Local Highway Authority standards;
  • Evidence of developing assistant engineers, graduates and technicians;
  • Working knowledge of programming tools such as ASTA;
  • Evidence of managing Health & Safety & Environment in design and construction;
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other design software including for drainage, alignment and traffic signs desirable;
  • Computer literate particularly with packages such as Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • UK/EEC driving licence.
